Anger Makes Difficult situations Worse

It sparks aggression, creates health problems, and deepens depression. Anger is a strong component that results in divorce, anxiety, guilt and suicide. Anger causes much

personal distress and uses up much of our thinking time. It can cause a person his job. What triggers your anger Anger has been the cause for damaged property as individuals have physically expressed their hostility.

Many people have lost their lives when deep-seated in anger and turned to murder. Can you remember situations where your angry outbursts caused personal embarrassment? In general, have your anger expression helped or damaged your relationships? How many people have hurt you by their angry comments? How many relationships have been terminated by anger?

Now to help you get a handle on the emotion of anger it would be good to keep an "anger diary" and write down any incident of anger that you experience. After keeping the anger diary, do you spend an inordinate amount of time and unnecessary emotions thinking about anger—producing situations?

The first step in getting a handle on anger is to understand what is triggering it in your life. Gaining insight and understanding in this area helps you become fully responsible for all of your actions and thoughts. This creates hope for change, which stimulates motivation, which causes thinking and behaviour change, which brings about peace and a sense of well-being.

However, to become proficient in the area of anger management, it is important to understand the anger process.  It is comprised of the event that triggers
anger, our mental responses, our verbal responses, and our physical responses.

Now the event is the trigger that sets off the emotion of anger. It could be that you are late for an appointment and there is slow traffic in front of you. It might be anything else. It might be that your spouse makes a comment that hurts you. Perhaps a life event has occurred that you don't like and has caused you irration. It might be some minor events but you get irritated.
